ILLUKA Williamstown
FULL INTERIOR DESIGN & FURNISHINGS
COMPLETION: 2021
Located in one of Williamstown's most enviable streets, the circa 530sqm block oozed history and potential. It's design is “so beautiful and grand and has such great soul,” Emma observes, adding that she had previously worked with the owner's before, styling a much larger project home for sale. "Our task was to give them everything they had in their previous home, and more, within a smaller dwelling. We achieved this through considered design & making the most out of every room."
Before any work started—including revitalising the the original home, adding a basement cinema, second story master suite, rear garage and studio —Emma proceeded as she always does, asking a question that provides a foundation of insights: “What are the three most important times of your day?” As she explains, “You learn a lot about somebody when they can tell you about the moments and ceremonies and rituals that ground them to a space. Sometimes people realise what they’re not getting out of their home, and that’s when the exercise gets really interesting.”
The result is a timeless, elegant display of elevated design. A space where the family can each enjoy partaking in their own interests while also offering the space to come together & entertain guests in expansive rooms not often found in renovations of this era home.

“The approach had to honour the history of the original building, while bringing it into the present. We also wanted to make sure the design left room for the future as our client's young family grew into the space. It had to be a fresh start, but a sensitive one.”
